The purpose of this job is to play a key role in the development, implementation and promotion of the Council’s Scheme of Assistance and to deliver good quality technical advice and information to Care & Repair clients on all aspects of housing repairs and improvements but primarily for disabled adaptations.
To provide technical assistance during home visits, primarily for adapting homes to suit the individual housing needs of those suffering a disability, including preparing drawings, specifications and schedules.
To support delivery of a personalised, home-based service to Care & Repair and other clients, supporting them through the process of getting adaptations carried out to their homes and ensuring that contractors deliver high standard work that meets client’s needs.
To assist the Private Sector Housing Manager to determine Housing Grant, payments and completions.
To provide information and advice on private sector housing issues under the Council Scheme of Assistance including repairs, maintenance, adaptations, Housing Grants, Building Standards, use of contractors and related matters to other Council services, external professionals and to members of the public.
Experience in an Architectural practice or as a Housing Surveyor/Building Technician or equivalent. Comprehensive knowledge of disabled adaptations. Working knowledge of private sector Housing Grant activities. HNC/HND* Architectural Technology* Housing/Building Technology/Surveying or related subject.* Sound knowledge of building construction and current practices especially in disabled adaptations. Willingness to work in a demanding position where a flexible approach is required. IT literate and numerate. Ability to produce detailed plans using Computer Aided Drafting. Ability to inspect properties and determine works required. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Ability to accept direction/delegation. You will be expected to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Moray to meet the requirements of the service. Due to the rural nature of Moray this is normally undertaken by use of a car. Ability to work flexibly in open plan office. Ability to carry out surveys.
Closing Date: 26th April 2019 Starting Salary: £30,235 per annum £16.04 per hour 36.25 hours per week
