Main purpose of role

Reporting to the Director, the candidate is responsible for managing commercial functions for multiple and often complex projects. The successful candidate will maintain the highest professional standards and be skilled at managing both internal and external stakeholders. The surveyor will have gained significant demonstrable experience within the industry and will have a proven track record in managing contract profitability, growing, developing and maintaining key business relationships and dealing with day to day contractual and commercial matters with both clients. Tier 1, and Tier 2 contractors. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a growing business and play a key role in helping shape company strategy and direction.

Key responsibilities

• Implementation of contract administration in accordance with the conditions of contract.
• Interpreting and offering advice on contract
• Provision of commercial input to client representatives.
• Advise on and help lead the commercial strategy in project discussions / reviews.
• Pro-actively work on business development opportunities.
• Build and maintain relationships with the client and supply chain.
• Responsible for ensuring all managers and key interface areas within the business are fully briefed and have the level of support to monitor and react to budget variances.
• Responsible for the production of monthly cost and value reports, quarterly forecasts and cash-flow information and present them clearly and concisely to directors.
• Manage and secure payment for contract variations and contractual claims.
• Production and presentation of applications for payment.
• Responsible for ensuring commercial, administrative systems, budgets and cost control procedures are in place and operated correctly across all contract operations.
• Maintain highest standards of compliance to meet clients exacting standards.

Person specification

• Able to demonstrate significant and relevant prior experience as a senior level or Quantity Surveyor.
• A self-starter with a progressive track record of exceeding business targets.
• Able to establish, grow and maintain successful business relationships across a range of stakeholders.
• Customer aware, innovative, and capable of maximising value for all stakeholders.
• Experienced in setting up and managing all commercial management and reporting systems.
• Ability to identify and resolve problems at an early stage.
• Excellent attention to detail and highly organised.
• An experienced negotiator and skilled communicator.
• Diligent, hard-working, flexible and enthusiastic team player.
• Committed to delivering a first-class service to all stakeholders.
• Qualified to Degree level.
• Experience in NEC and JCT contracts
• Previous PQS or contractor experience
• Candidates must be qualified to a professional body, such as the RICS or working towards this
• Experience with CEMAR
