Location: Mobile / Various across the West Midlands
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
DBS: Basic

Salary: 46,876 per annum

Are you an experienced Surveyor looking for a role where you can make a real impact? This is an exciting opportunity to join a high-performing Maintenance Operations team dedicated to delivering quality repairs, safe homes, and exceptional customer service.

The Role

As a Surveyor, you’ll support the delivery of responsive repairs and maintenance, using your technical expertise to ensure works are completed to the highest standards. You’ll carry out inspections, manage contractors, ensure compliance, and play a key part in improving customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct pre- and post-inspections and prepare detailed schedules of work using NHF Schedule of Rates.
• Carry out Damp & Mould inspections in line with Awab’s Law.
• Supervise internal teams and external contractors, ensuring compliance with specifications, regulations, and best practice.
• Complete risk assessments, promote a strong Health & Safety culture, and apply HHSRS principles.
• Manage customer enquiries and complaints professionally, identifying service improvements.
• Maintain accurate documentation, certificates, and repair records.
• Prepare procurement specifications and support CDM duties where required.
• Work with OTs on aids and adaptations, and support Development teams during build, inspection, and handover stages.
• Identify structural, compliance, safeguarding, or complex technical issues and escalate appropriately.
• Support performance targets, contribute to team development, and uphold organisational values.
• Ensure correct use and care of vehicles, equipment, and assets.

Skills & Experience

• Strong understanding of building fabrics, structures, defects, and common UK building types.
• Knowledge of building regulations, CDM, Health & Safety legislation, and energy-efficiency considerations.
• Experience conducting detailed building inspections and preparing clear, objective reports.
• Experience in social housing or working with housing providers.
• Ability to prepare schedules of work and work with SORs.
• Strong communication skills with internal teams, contractors, and customers.
• Ability to manage challenging conversations and resolve complaints.
• Full driving licence and access to a business-insured vehicle.

Qualifications

• IOSH or equivalent Health & Safety qualification.
• HNC/HND or Degree in a building-related discipline.
• Evidence of ongoing professional development.
