South of England Home-Based with Site Visits

Salary: 48,364 + 5,425 car allowance ( 53,789 total package)
Contract: 12-month fixed-term contract
Working pattern: 2 days on site, 2-3 days working from home

The Role

We are recruiting an experienced Repairs Surveyor / Clerk of Works to join an established housing organisation, overseeing repairs and maintenance across a residential property portfolio.

This is a hands-on technical role focused on building inspections, defect diagnosis, repair specifications and contractor quality assurance. You will ensure works are completed safely, to specification and to a high standard, working closely with contractors and internal teams to maintain property quality and resident satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out property inspections, diagnose defects and specify remedial works.
• Undertake pre- and post-inspections, checking workmanship and quality of completed repairs.
• Monitor contractor performance, challenge poor workmanship and ensure compliance with specifications.
• Manage responsive repairs, void works and damp and mould cases.
• Support disrepair investigations, complaints and technical reporting.
• Monitor repair progress, KPIs, costs and contractor invoices.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with relevant health and safety requirements.

About You

• HNC in Building Surveying, Construction or a related discipline, or equivalent.
• Minimum five years’ relevant experience in repairs, maintenance surveying or property inspections.
• Strong knowledge of building defects, remedial works and construction standards.
• Experience overseeing contractors and inspecting completed works, ideally in social housing.
• Good communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
• Full driving licence and access to a car.
• Experience with Civica CX or similar repairs management systems is desirable.
